'Jersey Shore' reunion: We were a 'hot mess' in Seaside Heights

The reunited cast of the “Jersey Shore” hit a figurative roadblock on “Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore,” which aired Sunday, Aug. 20 on E!.
They weren’t allowed to film in Seaside Heights.
“We kind of have a little bit of a situation,” said Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino while driving an SUV full of the cast members during the show. “I envisioned this road trip to end in Seaside. We’d visit the old house, we’d see Danny (Merk) at the T-shirt shop, go to the Beachcomber and get some sushi, go chop it up at Karma, but apparently Seaside didn’t want us back.”
A “Reunion Road Trip” application for a permit to film Seaside Heights was indeed rejected by the borough. When “Jersey Shore” filmed in Seaside Heights, cast members were arrested, got into brawls, and, as explained on “Reunion Road Trip,” relieved themselves around town.
Many members of the community feel the series, which broke MTV viewership records when it ran from 2009 to 2012, did not reflect well on Seaside Heights.
“We did run amok,” Sorrentino said
“I can see why we’re not wanted back,” said  Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. “We were a hot mess.”
“All of our previous stomping grounds rejected us, except for one,” Sorrentino said.
So, it was off to the boardwalk and Jenkinson’s Pavilion Restaurant  in Point Pleasant Beach. The reunion also included Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, and Sammi “Sweatheart” Giancola. Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino and Ronnie Magro didn’t participate. All the cast, expect for Magro, filmed a Burger King commercial at the Barnegat Burger King last month.
“Road Trip Reunion” filming also took place on the Garden State Parkway, Route 71 and Asbury Park in a blink-and-you -missed it segment.
In Point Breach, the guys reminisced about old times and caught up on what they were doing now. DelVecchio is still DJing and Giancola has a podcast.
Sorrentino is facing tax evasion charges.
“Oh my God, are you going to jail,” Pollizi asked.
“No, don’t say that ,” Sorrentino replied.
